FIRE INCIDENT AT PHUTHADITJHABA INDUSTRIAL PARK, NO
INJURIES REPORTED
The Free State Development Corporation (FDC) confirms that a fire broke out at one
of its industrial properties located at the Phuthaditjhaba Industrial Park on the evening
of Monday, 2 September 2024. The affected site, which includes four small industrial
units used by Lewis Stores (Pty) Ltd for storage, sustained severe damage because of
the incident.
FDC’s security team, in coordination with local fire authorities, responded swiftly to
the scene, successfully containing the fire, and preventing it from spreading to
adjacent buildings. The fire, however, consumed the property and its contents.
Fortunately, the site did not house full-time employees, minimizing the risk of injury.
